Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy is a form of psychotherapy. It is non-blaming, strength-based, and very much a person-centred approach (See PCT).

Having the privilege of hearing the stories that are significant to you, allows me to support you in mapping your journey. However, there are times when our dominant stories become flawed and problem-saturated over time, and some of these stories that we have constructed about ourselves, can sadly be reinforced by outsider perspectives. This is where a narrative approach can support your healing journey. Collaboratively we can explore alternative storylines, ones where you get to re-author your stories for richer outcomes. There's a popular phrase in narrative therapy: 'The person is not the problem, the problem is the problem'. The idea of externalising ourselves from our problems, allows us to see our problems as separate entities, in other words, they don't define us, and they are not a part of us.
